Tottori sand dunes is a vast sand hill which reaches even the white rabbit seashore of an eastern part from Fukube-son, Iwami-gun. It is said that the length is about 16km and the width is a maximum of 2.4km. A lot of sand carried by Chiyogawa which flows through the eastern part in Tottori Prefecture, and the sand conversely launched by the seashore by the littoral current and wave from the Sea of Japan dry by a strong wind, is rapidly carried to the inland side by strong winds, such as a monsoon, over huge years, and forms the vast sand hill. |
