Okayama Korakuen Garden is known as one of the Japanese three major garden along with Mito Kairakuen or Kanazawa Kenrokuen Garden,
It is a noted garden which has a vast site of about 40,000 tsubos (133,000 sq Km) in the ridge of Okayama city central part Asahikawa.

the Rinsen excursion type representing Japan which started construction work in the history of Okayama Korakuen Garden in Edo period middle 1687, spent the time for 14 years, and completed in 1700 -- a scenic backdrop -- it is a garden -- 1952 (Showa 27) -- a country -- it is specially specified as the scenic spot. the Okayama han of those days -- the garden carried out to main IkedaTunamasa having ordered GundaikanTsudaNagadtada of those days, and having made it make allots in the center the pond and Sawanoike of a floral leaf which led the water of Asahikawa centering on Tearoom EnyoteiThere are buildings, such as Rentiken-Yuisindo-Ryuten-Tyasodo-Jigendo, in the circumference, and it is very quiet space only there, being in the Okayama city central part. It can also say saying that it is a garden of a lawn as the feature here. If it is called a garden from ancient times, there is much what is represented by moss, but it is said that it is the garden which took in the lawn first here in Japan. I feel that the feature of the hips can also be seen for that of the park as used in the field of the present. Moreover, there are a wood of the plum which has inside the garden a Japanese iris field where a Japanese iris blooms, and about 100 plums, a wood of a cherry tree, woods of Tishio with maple with beautiful fresh green and autumnal leaves, a tea garden, etc., and beautiful garden scenery every season can be enjoyed. chiefly -- this Korakuen -- all the past hans -- it seems that it is a place of the main relaxation, and is a place of rest, and was used as an institution for greeting a guest in the Okayama han It is 1871 years (Meiji 4) that the official name of the garden came to be called "Korakuen." It will be transferred to Okayama Prefecture from an Ikeda house after that in 1884 (Meiji 17), and the general public will also come to put in freely. It seems that however, the flood damage in 1893 (Meiji 26) was begun, and it might suffer flood damage frequently although this Oba garden was also in the ridge of Asahikawa therefore. Moreover, it suffered damage of the Okayama University air raid for the year (1945) of the end of the war. the han of the Okayama han -- the garden considered to also have had character also as main rest places is in a sandbank on the opposite shore across Asahikawa, and is connected with the Tsukimi bridge concerning Asahikawa to the Okayama castle. Moreover, an Okayama castle can be desired close at hand from inside a garden. In the time of fresh green [ May ] I have carried out, the flower of the azalea near the Enyotei was in the state near full bloom exactly.
