Mt. Yake and Taishoike
Actual size

Taishoike is the lake in which a lot of earth and sand and mud flows flowed
into Azusagawa and which was made in one night by the eruption of Mt. Yake in 1915.
Although withered trees are conspicuous, this is for the trees which were dammed up on the occasion
of the eruption and sank to have withered as it is.
Taishoike can be dammed up by the natural floodgate from the first -- it was -- although -- it seems
that a bank will be built here and Taishoike will be saved here in order to become Showa
and to provide electricity demand
However, since earth and sand are continuing flowing into Taishoike from Mt. Yake or Azusagawa even now,
a pond is being buried gradually.
