Eikan-do calls an official name Zenrin-ji.
It is said that the origin of the name of Eikan-do takes Eikan of virtuous chief priest and Eikan-Rissi of the 7th generation which was very excellent,
and came to be called Eikan-do.
From the place which gave to people with the 7th generation chief priest's poor Yokan-Risshi very kindly,
It is that poor people were able to go Yokan-Risshi with familiarity very much.
The name of Eikan-do put the familiarity to Yokan-Risshi from between such poor people, was called, and, probably, was circulated.
The principal image of present Eikan-do is also as this Yokan-Risshi was held from Todaiji.
