seems that the history of Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo was very old, and the first bridge construction was made at the Heian period. It is considered as beginning that the Michimasa bishop who will be equivalent to Kuukai's (Kobo Daishi) pupil in 836 constructed the bridge over the upper stream about 200m rather than the position of present Togetsu-kyo. It is said that the name of those days was a vermillion-painted bridge which is called the Horin-ji bridge instead of Togetsu-kyo, and symbolizes the Heian period. It seems that that it was able to change Togetsu-kyo and a name is the Kamakura period in which the Kameyama retired emperor who had the Kameyama garden in the place which has the Arashiyama Tenryu temple those days was, and the Kameyama retired emperor named Togetsu-kyo from signs that it seemed that the moon crossed the bridge to a certain night. it is said that the bridge was reconstructed over the present place as Kyoto and Sagano in early stages of the Edo period be [ a wealthy merchant and Sumikura Ryoui ] alike in 1606 although subsequent Togetsu-kyo was passed by the flood or it was burned down in the Onin War for war fire The concrete bridge of the present form is completed after that in June, 1934 (Showa 9). It seems that the upper stream side calls KatsuraRiver correctly the OozekiRiver (Hozu-gawa) and lower stream side bordering on Togetsu-kyo although it seems that the river in which Togetsu-kyo has started well is called KatsuraRiver . In order to take a picture of Kyoto Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo and a cherry tree, it was standing on Neighborhood of Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo at 7:00 a.m. It was a very quiet time zone which is a grade along which the car of commutation passes also by Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo said how much to be overwhelmed by a sightseeing spot in a crowd at the time of a cherry tree in case of that kind of time zone occasionally. The store was not opened, but quiet time was still able to be spent, looking at Arashiyama Togetsu-kyo and Hozu-gawa which a cherry tree requires. Since a tourist was beginning to have flocked gradually after that, Arashiyama was left.
It is said that the Maruyama Park weeping cherry tree will call 11m in height, and a formal name "single white equinoctial week Weeping cherry tree" for age-of-a-tree 70 years. This cherry tree called an alias "Gion Weeping cherry tree" is in Maruyama Park, and it is also lit up at night. Maruyama Park made into the oldest park even in Kyoto is a park completed in 1886 (Meiji 19). There is a gross area of about 103,000 sq m, and Maruyama Park is also one of the spot representing Kyoto of cherry blossom viewing including the Gion Weeping cherry tree. It seems that moreover, it is specified also as the scenic spot of the country in 1931 (Showa 6). It is said that it will wither in 1947 (Showa 22) though regrettable, and the big tree of the present cherry tree is the 2nd generation that has grown from the seed of an old tree although it is said that there was a big tree of the cherry tree of age-of-a-tree 220 years in this park from the first. Since the time which arrived in Maruyama Park was a fairly late time zone, the tourist flocked too and the crowd had been made in order to approach the weeping cherry tree of this famous Maruyama Park. Mostly, unless the large cherry tree of such branch lappets separates to a happy thing a little and it sees it to it, commemoration photography still is not made as for it to it, either. The photograph of the weeping cherry tree of Maruyama Park which does not not much have a crowd by favor was able to be taken. It is the best time to see of a cherry tree early in April.
